The Indian Army has paid heartfelt tribute to Subedar Kuldeep Chand of the 9 Punjab Regiment, who was martyred while leading a counter-infiltration operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keri-Battal area of Sunderbani on Friday night.
In a post on X, the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps saluted the bravery and supreme sacrifice of the Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO).
“General Officer Commanding (GOC), White Knight Corps and all ranks salute the supreme sacrifice of braveheart Sub Kuldeep Chand of 9 PUNJAB,” the Corps posted. “He laid down his life while gallantly leading a counter-infiltration operation along the LoC.”
The Army confirmed that the infiltration attempt was thwarted by Subedar Kuldeep Chand and his team’s valiant efforts, and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family during this time of mourning.
Meanwhile, the Army’s ongoing Operation Chhatru in the Kishtwar region continues, with two more Pakistani terrorists neutralized, bringing the total to three over the past four days despite challenging weather conditions.
Additionally, search operations have been intensified across Jammu and Kashmir, especially after a firefight in Panjtirthi, Kathua, earlier in the week. Multiple surveillance teams and ambushes have been deployed in joint operations involving the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF.
In another operation, Operation Safiyan, four J&K Police personnel lost their lives in Kathua, while two terrorists were killed. The encounter, which began on March 23 following reports of suspected infiltrators in Sanyal, also led to the recovery of war-like stores.
Security remains tight across the region as operations continue to eliminate terrorist threats and secure the LoC.
